President-elect Donald Trump has named another pro-life advocate to his Cabinet today, this time choosing pro-life physician Ben Carson to lead the Department of Housing and Urban Development. Trump intends to nominate the retired neurosurgeon, who ran against Trump in the wide field of Republican presidential primary candidates earlier this year.

“I am thrilled to nominate Dr. Ben Carson as our next Secretary of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. Ben Carson has a brilliant mind and is passionate about strengthening communities and families within those communities,” Trump said in a statement.

Trump’s HUD pick follows his decision to name pro-life South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley as his UN Ambassador and pro-life former labor secretary Elaine L. Chao as his choice for transportation secretary. These two appointments, along with Carson’s and Trump’s selection of pro-life Betsy DeVos as his choice for education secretary and pro-life Congressman Tom price as HHS Secretary and pro-life Sen. Jeff Sessions as Attorney General has pleased pro-life voters in recent weeks.

Carson had made his strong pro-life stance clear on the campaign trail. In December, he blamed “peer pressure” for American’s acceptance of abortion as a “woman’s right.”

“Someone has tried to make this into an issue of women’s rights,” the former neurosurgeon told a pro-life crowd in Nevada. “What about the baby? You know, it’s one of the most sacred relationships in the universe, a mother and that child inside of her.

“How have we become so distorted that we have managed to convince women that that baby inside of her is her enemy and that she has a right to kill it,” Carson said.

In a November interview with Breitbart News, Carson said he would “use the bully pulpit” to work to restore a culture of life in the United States if elected president.

Carson also said he supports repealing Roe v. Wade. He also has been very vocal about his opposition to Obamacare.
