Trump: California ‘Revolution’ as cities rebel against sanctuary policy

.

California is in the middle of a revolution as more and more cities are rejecting the state’s support for sanctuary policies that protect illegal immigrants, President Trump claimed Wednesday.

“There is a Revolution going on in California. Soooo many Sanctuary areas want OUT of this ridiculous, crime infested & breeding concept,” Trump tweeted Wednesday. “Jerry Brown is trying to back out of the National Guard at the Border, but the people of the State are not happy. Want Security & Safety NOW!”

Brown originally agreed to send troops to the southern border in exchange for funding from the federal government. But Brown warned that he doesn’t want those troops to support direct border enforcement actions, and he is now going back and forth with the Department of Homeland Security to negotiate exactly what those troops will do.

On Monday, Brown rejected the latest DHS plan for how to use the troops, and it’s not clear he and the DHS will be able to reach a deal.

California has passed legislation that deems itself a “sanctuary state” for immigrants, where the state exempts itself and its people from cooperating with federal immigration enforcement agents.
