Protesters accost Mitch McConnell as he leaves Kentucky restaurant

.

Protesters threatening to vote Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell out of office accosted the Republican lawmaker as he left a Louisville, Ky., restaurant Saturday, with repeated shouts of “vote you out” and “abolish ICE.”

According to The Courier-Journal, McConnell walked out of Bristol Bar & Grille, making his way to his car as several protesters followed him, using their phones to take videos of the encounter. One man called McConnell “turtle head,” while another told him that the group “knows where he lives.”

“Where are the babies, Mitch?” yelled another protester.

McConnell has experienced intense scrutiny as a result of the Trump administration’s zero tolerance immigration policy. President Trump signed an executive order last month seeking to halt family separations at the border, an issue which launched the border debate back to the forefront nationwide, but Congress has not yet passed legislation ending the practice in the long term.

Recently, the majority leader and his wife, Transportation Secretary Elaine Chao, were confronted by protesters in Georgetown. A video of that encounter made waves on social media, as Chao was seen physically blocking the protesters, saying, “Leave my husband alone.”
