Barr holding Thursday morning press conference on release of Mueller report

Attorney General William Barr has set a press conference for 9:30 a.m. EST on Thursday to discuss the release of special counsel Robert Mueller’s report on his Russia investigation.

According to a press release from the Justice Department, Barr and Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein will address the media.

The only reporters allowed into the conference will be those who hold Justice Department hard badges, a permanent form of press credential, although there will be a livestream of the event broadcast on the Justice Department website.

Barr released a four-page summary of Mueller’s report to Congress last month that said the special counsel was unable to establish that the Trump campaign colluded with Russia, but did not make a determination on whether President Trump obstructed justice during the course of the investigation. Barr said he and Rosenstein decided there was insufficient evidence to establish obstruction.

Democratic lawmakers immediately called for a full release of the report after Barr’s summary was released, and have subpoena power at the ready.

Barr will release a redacted version of the roughly 400-page report Thursday morning, but the exact release time has not been announced.

The Washington Examiner reached out to the Justice Department about what time the report will be released, but did not get an immediate response.

President Trump said on Wednesday he might conduct a press conference on Thursday following publication of the long-awaited Mueller report.
